TOM BAKER - Director of XCEL Lacrosse Training Program
Tom Baker is new to the area but not new to the game of lacrosse. A native of Long Island, NY, Tom played lacrosse and football for two years at Baltimore Junior College. While playing for Baltimore from 1971 to 1973 he was awarded first team All American (for lacrosse, defense), All-JUCO, All-Region and was selected captain of the NJCAA 1973 South All-Star Team. In 1973 he received a full scholarship for football to the University of Pittsburgh. Tom was the head coach at Eden Prairie High School, Minnesota (reaching the State Semi Finals in his first year 13-1) and named 2002 US Lacrosse "Man of the Year" Minnesota.
 

Since moving to Massachusetts Tom has been the head coach at Shrewsbury High School from 2003-2004 and is currently an assistant coach at Assumption College. Tom was named 2004 US Lacrosse "Man of the Year" for Central Massachusetts. He currently plays with the Minneapolis Lacrosse Club (6 years), is an assistant coach for Team Central(an Elite Team of High School players), and named head coach for the 2005 Bay State Central Team.


CHRIS WIDELO - Director of XCEL Lacrosse Leagues / Lacrosse Skills Coach

Chris Widelo has been a fixture in Central Massachusetts lacrosse for over 12 years.  A defenseman at Division II Assumption College from 1994-1997, he went on to be an

assistant coach at Assumption after graduation and spent six seasons as the school's head men's lacrosse coach. In 2005 Chris served as the assistant varsity lacrosse coach at St. Peter-Marian High School in Worcester.  
 
Chris is currently entering his third season as the the associate head coach at Mount Ida College in Newton, MA.  While at Mount Ida he has helped lead the Mustangs to two of their five North Atlantic Conference Championships and two appearances in the NCAA DIvision III Tournament.   
 
Regionally, Chris has coached the Bay State Games Metro Region Lacrosse team for five years and also served as an assistant with Team Central.  In January of 2009 he was a co-presenter at the US Lacrosse National Convention in Baltimore, MD on the topic of individual and team defense.  In June 2009 Chris will take a team of current collges players to Czechoslovakia as part of an international lacrosse tournament. 
 
At the club level Chris plays defense and long stick middie for the Sandy Point Lacrosse Clubout of Maryland.
 
Chis is Double-Goal certified by the Positive Coaching Alliance and has completed Level One of the  U.S. Lacrosse Coaches ' Certification Program.
 
JOHN MIDDLETON – Lacrosse Skills Coach
Four year standout at Western New England College. Assistant Coach at Algonquin High School. Head coach Algonquin High  School 2000-2002. Head coach 2003 & 2004 Bay State games Central Region Team, took the Silver Medal in 2004. Head coach Team Central, elite team of high school players, who compete in tournaments around the north east. Area Chairman for U.S. Lacrosse Central MA. 2001 Metro-West Coach of the Year. Coached in New Jersey for 7 years prior to relocation to MA.
 
NATE EVANS – Lacrosse Skills Coach
A 2006 graduate of LeMoyne College, Nate was a standout member of two NCAA DII National Championship Teams (2004 and 2006).   During his career LeMoyne compiled a 62-2 record.  Currently employed by Brine, Inc., Nate plays professionally for the Boston Cannons of Major League Lacrosse

 Amanda Pelley - Director of Girls and Women's Lacrosse
Amanda Pelley
 
Amanda Pelley joins XCEL Lacrosse as the director of girls and women's lacrosse leagues and clinics.  A Cape Cod native, Pelley just completed her first season as assistant coach with the Mount Ida College women's lacrosse program. In the team's inaugural season they earned a 4-4 recrod and reached the Great North Atlantic Conference semi-finals.
 
 
Pelley is a 2009 graduate from St. Michael's College in Colchester, Vermont receiving a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism and Communications with a minor in Business Administration. Pelley played all four seasons of her college career with the St. Michael's women's lacrosse program and was voted team captain her senior year.   In the summer of 2009, Pelley spent time in Melbourne, Australia teaching and coaching the basic skills of the game to under 13 players along with planning everyday practices and team building exercises. This is Pelley's first collegiate coaching experience.
 
Melissa Callender - Lacrosse Skills Coach
Melissa is currently the head women's lacrosse coach for Anna Maria College's new women's lacrosse team.  Coach Callender has a B.S. and M.Ed in physical education from Springfield College and a B.A. in sociology from Hartwick College, Oneonta, NY.  Coach Callender is currently working in the Westborough, MA school system as a physical education and wellness teacher.  She also served as the head coach of Westborough's girls' varsity lacrosse team, which she founded in 1997.
 
Sara Allen - Lacrosse Skills Coach

Sara Allen is a 2007 graduate of University of Richmond where she was a three year captain and one year student assistant coach for the women's lacrosse team. Sara is originally from
 
Radnor, PAwhere she was a three sport athlete at Radnor High School. Prior to joining the staff at XCEL, she coached at numerous high level camps all over the country, as well as acted as Assistant Director to Sue Murphy's Premier Camps and Head Coach for a highly competitive high school club team in San Diego, CA. Sara currently works for The Active Network, which includes LaxPower.com.
 
 
Morghan Vahue - Lacrosse Skills Coach 
Morghan VahueA four-year starter at the University of Richmond, Morghan Vahue helped the Divison I Spiders to three consecutive Atlantic 10 Championships. As an attacker, Morghan scored a total of 93 points consisting of 72 goals and 21 assists. As a 2007 graduate, she made three appearances in the NCAA National Championships in 2005, 2006 and 2007. While actively playing, she has also coached several clinics and camps in Rochester, NY, Richmond, VA and San Diego, CA.
 
 
 
XCEL STRENGTH AND CONDITIONING PROGRAM
 
Jeremy Frisch - Lead Strength and Conditioning Coach
Jeremy Frisch is in his first year as the assistant strength and conditioning coach for the Holy Cross athletic department in 2008-2009. He works directly with the Crusader men's basketball team, in addition to serving as the strength coach for Holy Cross' men's soccer, men's and women's lacrosse, baseball, softball, field hockey, tennis and women's track & field squads.  Prior to joining Holy Cross, Frisch served as the sports performance director at Teamworks Sports Center in Acton, Mass., where he was responsible for the design and implementation of all strength and conditioning programs. He also served as a speed and strength coach for Athletes Edge Sports Training, and did a strength and conditioning internship at Stanford University.
 
Frisch is a 2007 graduate of Worcester State College with a bachelor's degree in health science and physical education. He was a member of the football and track teams during his days at Worcester State and Assumption College.
